About College Of Engineering

Sikkim Professional College of Engineering is an initiated educational background, aimed to provide quality education to aspiring technocrats in various fields of Engineering & Technology.

At present, the institution offers 5 Diploma Programmes and 5 UG programmes.

The college was started with various discipline and departments to cater the students with the dedicated teaching professionals. Students are provided with common room for each and every department. Canteen with hygienic delicious food, good sanitation and drinking water are available in the College. There is a well-equipped indoor auditorium for conducting various cultural and extracurricular programs. Separate Hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls. Transport facilities are available for all the routes in and around campus.

    Mechanical Engineering

    The Mechanical Engineering Department possesses a good team of well qualified, experienced and hard working faculty members with industrial teaching and Research background. The department has well equipped laboratories and workshop having the latest machinery, equipments and sophisticated instruments. The department conducts various programmes like seminars, conferences, workshops, symposiums etc. The department also offers diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

    Civil Engineering

    The Department of Civil Engineering under SP College of Engineering was formed as an individual Branch/Department during the academic year 2020-21, under the Sikkim Professional University, Jorethang. The department also offers diploma in Civil Engineering.

    Outcome

    • Civil Engineering is a wide field and includes many types of structure such as residential buildings, public buildings, industrial building, roads, bridges, tunnels, railway, dams, and canal ,airport, harbours, and ports, water treatment plant, water supply network and drainage network
    • The main role of civil Engineering or the task of civil Engineering is Planning, Designing, Estimating, Supervising Construction, Managing construction, execution and maintenance of structure.
    • An ability to recognize the importance of civil Engineering professional development by pursuing postgraduate studies or face competitive examinations that offer challenging and rewarding careers in computing.

    Electrical Engineering

    The Department offers full time undergraduate course in the Electrical Engineering. The department also offers diploma in Electrical Engineering. The Department has well equipped laboratories with state of the art facilities.

    The department has been organizing a cascade of seminars, guest lectures, workshops, symposia, conferences, industrial visits, in-plant training, inter collegiate programmes from time to time for the benefit of the faculty members and students

    The thrust area of research of the department are Renewable Energy, Power Electronics and Drives Control, Power system and automation. The department has Centre of Excellence for Solar Energy. The Faculty Members are well qualified with inherent experience in both teaching and research.

    Computer Science and Engineering

    The department also offers diploma in Computer Science.
