SPU and NIDM Conducting Programme on Disaster Management

Sikkim Professional University in collaboration with National Institute of Disaster Management Delhi, MHA, Govt. of India, begins 5 days Workshop-Cum-Training Programme on “Enhancing Human Capacity to deal with the Public Health emergencies during disaster situations like earthquakes, landslides and Flash Floods in Sikim” at its seminar Hall on 18th March, 2024.

In the inaugural session Prof. H.S. Yadav, Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Professional University inaugurated the Training Programme and emphasized the need of preparedness and post Disasters Measures to minimize the Disaster risks. The adequate education, environment, economy and energy Management is the need of the hour which can be achieved only within protocol of eco-friendly domain.

In this connection, the Key Note Speaker of the Programme, Prof. Deepak Jhajharia, Prof. & Head, Soil & Water Conservation Engineering Department, CAEPHT, Gangtok, Sikkim delivered key note speech   on “ Disaster: Types under changing climate: Case Studies from North East India”.  During the Programme, Mr. Pranal Chettri, Assistant Professor, Sikkim Professional College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SPU delivered lecture on Pharmacist’s Role in Disaster Management: Coordination with other professionals.  In the end of the first day programme, a Demonstration was also conducted in the Sikkim Professional College of Pharmaceutical Sciences for the Delegates and Students.

The programme was started with lighting of the lamp and in the beginning of the programme welcoming the guest with Khada and a kit of momento by the dignitaries of the Sikkim Professional University. During the programme, large numbers of  delegates, students and faculty members of various colleges of the Sikkim Professional University were present.
